Métis Crossing Campground : Specific Policies

The Campsite at Metis Crossing - Summer 2021 - Updated July 1/21 General Admission to Metis Crossing is required for entering the Interpretive and Cultural Gathering Centre, lands and building. To purchase your wrist band, please stop by the Cultural Gathering Centre prior to touring the space. Camping permit holders are responsible for the actions of all camping party members and any visitors to their campsite. Contravention of regulations may result in eviction, a court-imposed fine or a restitution order. Registration Please register your campsite. Camping fees are payable when the permit is issued. Camping permits are not transferrable. You are not permitted to save campsites for others. Check in/Check out times: Guaranteed check-in time: 4:00pm Check-out time: 12:00pm Maximum Stay: the maximum stay length is 16 consecutive nights; after 16 consecutive nights, you must vacate the campground for a minimum of 24 hours or as approved by Metis Crossing Manager. Group Camping No group camping is permitted for the Summer 2021 Noise Abatement Quiet hours are 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Loud partying, stereos at high volume and other rowdy behavior are not tolerated at any time. Constantly running generators is considered excessive noise UNLESS required for medical reasons. Please use your generator in moderation. Occupancy You must immediately occupy the campsite designated by the permit with your camping accommodation unit (tent, trailer or RV). If an accommodation unit is not present, the campsite may be re-assigned. Extra guests(Updated May 20, 2021) A maximum of 5 people may occupy a campsite unless they are members of the same household unit Number of accommodation units per site(Updated May 20, 2021) Maximum of one accommodation unit per site Smoking and Vaping Tobacco and vaping are prohibited within 5 meters of playgrounds, sports or playing fields, outdoor theatres (e.g., outdoor public education amphitheatres) Campfire Campfires are permitted only in facilities provided. Never leave your campfire unattended.  Ensure your campfire is completely out before returning for the night and before leaving your campsite. Pets Pets must be kept on a leash no more than 2m in length at all times. Please pick up after your pets. Pets are not permitted on beaches, In buildings, In or around Comfort camping sites. Barking dogs are not permitted to stay onsite RV Sanitation Sewage may be deposited at the Centex station in Smoky Lake, 10 minutes north of M?tis Crossing. Garbage Removal Liquid and solid waste must be disposed of in receptacles provided. Pouring wastewater on open ground or in sump holes dug beneath trailers is prohibited. Where waste receptacles are not provided, waste must be carried out of the area for disposal. Do not bathe or clean clothing, fish or cooking/eating utensils near water fountains, taps and wells. Safety & Security Drive cautiously and obey all speed limits. Children may be playing in the area and campground roads are often used as pathways. Do not approach, feed or harass wildlife. These actions can cause a wild animal to feel threatened, which can pose a danger to humans and their pets.  It is illegal to feed wildlife in provincial parks and recreation areas. To Report A Poacher phone 1-800-642-3800 toll-free from anywhere in Alberta. Store your camping gear and valuables securely. Mark your camping gear and valuables to deter thieves. Report vandalism to police. Be a good neighbour - help protect others' property.

Pets Policy

-No animals are permitted in the Metis Crossing Cultural Interpretive Centre, Deck or all lands east of the Campsite entry access road. -Pets are welcome and permitted only within the Campsite of Metis Crossing -Pets are not permitted near or within the Comfort Camping Trapper tent sites -Pets are not permitted at Metis Crossing canoe launch beach. -Pets must be kept on a leash no more then 2M in length at all times -Barking dogs are not permitted to stay onsite.


Payment Policies Deposit Information

RESERVATIONS: All rental charges must be paid for in full at the time of reservation. You can use cash, debit, Visa, Master Card or Gift Cards if reserving in person. Phone or online reservations are by credit card only. For liability purposes, please bring a government issued valid photo ID (driver?s license or passport) to verify your identity to confirm rental and reservations. PAYMENT: All payments may be made by cash, Visa, MasterCard, or Interact.


Cancellation Policies

Cancellation with more then 48 hours notice will received a full refund. If less than 48 hours is provided, there is a 50% refund. Rescheduling will be of no charge but will be subject to availability.
